LIMITED EDITION FILTER FRAMES

What are Freedom Filters?

Freedom Filters is Filter King's limited-edition campaign to mark America's 250th anniversary. Available across seven popular 1-inch sizes, each filter features a patriotic frame design – a fitting way to mark this monumental milestone every time you change your filter.

The filtration is the same MERV 8 performance you'd expect from Filter King – capturing dust, pollen, mold spores, and pet dander – wrapped in a USA-themed frame you won't find anywhere else.

A portion of every sale goes to Big Dog Ranch Rescue's Veteran Service Dog Training Program, training and matching rescue dogs with veterans living with PTSD, TBI, or MST – at no cost to the veteran.

USA 250th Anniversary

Who is the 20x20x1 MERV 8 air filter best for?

MERV 8 air filters are ideal for homes seeking improved air quality and standard filtration. These filters are best in homes where pet dander is lower and there are no risks of outdoor pollution or construction. MERV 8 air filters provide sustainable air filtration without a high efficiency system in place. They capture up to 90% of particles and are generally used in family homes and smaller offices.

When to replace your air filter?

For best indoor air quality, we recommend you change your HVAC or furnace air filters regularly at different times depending on your situation.

<
>

What happens if you don’t replace on time?

Your filter catches dust every day, but it can only hold so much. Once it's full, dirty air keeps circulating and your system has to work harder – leading to problems that spread through your whole home.

  • Higher energy bills

A clogged filter makes your system work much harder to push air through. That extra effort shows up on your energy bill.

  • Costly system breakdowns

When air can't flow through, your AC can freeze up in summer and your furnace can overheat in winter.

  • Stuffy, uncomfortable rooms

A dirty filter weakens your system's airflow, so some rooms end up too hot, too cold, or just plain stuffy.

What makes Filter King so good?

It comes down to using better materials. Click around to see how we build a stronger filter that actually protects your home.

Front beverage board frame

The diagonal straps die-cut into the frame bond to each pleat tip, keeping them evenly spaced so the filter won't bow.

MERV 8 pleated media

Traps up to 90% of everyday particles like dust mites, pollen, pet dander, and mold spores, while still letting air flow through freely.

MERV 11 pleated media

Rated to capture up to 95% of common particles, MERV 11 media catches dust mites, pollen, pet dander, and mold spores, as well as fine dust and smoke.

MERV 13 pleated media

Stops up to 98% of particles passing through, including dust mites, pollen, pet dander, and mold spores, as well as fine dust, smoke, and bacteria.

MERV 8 pleated media

Traps up to 90% of everyday particles like dust mites, pollen, pet dander, and mold spores, while still letting air flow through freely.

Wire support grid

An expanded wire grid bonds to the media, stopping the pleats from shifting or pulling away under airflow.

Back beverage board frame

The same heavy-duty, moisture-resistant beverage board on the exit side holds its shape and keeps a tight seal in your vent or wall slot.

Activated carbon layer

A layer of activated carbon absorbs odor molecules from cooking, pets, and chemical fumes – catching what the filter media alone can't.

How to find your air filter size?

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can I use a 20x20x2 filter in a 20x20x1 slot?

No, you cannot use a 20x20x2 air filter in a slot designed for 20x20x1. This is an improper size for the opening and will be too thick, which can strain your HVAC unit. This can cause damage overtime. In addition, it won't clean the air properly if it's improperly sized for your space. It doesn't save you anything much less money to have an improperly fitted filter either.

Can I wash and reuse my 20x20x1 pleated filter?

No, you cannot wash or reuse your 20x20x1 pleated filter from Filter King.

Will a higher MERV 20x20x1 filter make my system work harder?

Yes, a higher MERV 20x20x1 filter can make your system work harder. But, if your home is modern and your unit is new, it might be able to handle the extra filtration. If you want to improve your indoor air quality by increasing your filter rating, just make sure you check your unit guidelines and recommendations first.

How do I know if my filter is actually 20x20x1 or 19.5x19.5x0.75?

Well, by industry standards, these are the same thing. However, Filter King does offer a true-to-size filter that is designed for superior filtration. This also means your filter will fit perfectly as designed in your space as constructed and will reduce dust, pollen and more.

Why does my 20x20x1 filter get dirty faster in winter?

During the winter months, your HVAC system is likely to run much more frequently in order to keep your home comfortable. This means that, based on the increased use or your specific needs, you will likely need to opt for filter replacement more often. This is normal. Dust buildup along with even more pollen can be common as well.

Do all 20x20x1 filters have the same number of pleats?

No. The number of pleats will depend on the MERV rating, among other factors. So, not all filters have the same number of pleats.
